Perhaps you are one of those who never curl their lashes after applying mascara in order to keep from ripping out lashes or getting too crimped of a look. You might be surprised that many advise curling only after applying mascara. And vice versa.

There are two theories when it comes to curling lashes.

Curl then Mascara

Supposedly, you get a more natural curl and avoid ripping out your lashes.

Mascara then Curl

Because the wet mascara will take out all the curl if you do it first.

Hmm … this is quite a pickle! Or is it? I’ve come to the conclusion that it works best to do both. I curl my lashes before mascara, holding the curler tight for a few seconds at the base of my lashes and another curl, closer to the tips. Then, after applying mascara, I do a quick curl, usually just at the base. =)

And, in case you’re wondering, yes, water proof mascara is very good at holding curls (more wax in it), and no, curling mascaras really don’t do all that much.
